So, I'm at work right now and honestly, my mind needs a second to breathe... so I thought I'd write some drivel for you to read. I knew you'd be happy about that!
We've had an interesting couple of days. Devin was fortunatly able to come home to Nor Cal a bit early (on Tuesday instead of Friday or Saturday this week) but unfortunatly had a bit of an accident. No worries! No one is hurt! Well... except for my pretty little green car.... :( We had swaped cars so he didn't have to drive his truck down to So Cal for his job and we could save a bit of money in gas. So, yes, he was driving my car at the time, and at a freeway interchange in the rain found a wet patch that my tires didn't like and lost control of the car. (I'll have to put up pictures in a bit) He spun out and hit the barrier wall damaging not only the front end of the car but the back end as well. He said that the one thing he had thought to himself as he was spinning out that he couldn't let this be the way he died because I had said to him previously (as a JOKE!) that I would never forgive him if he died and left me.... All in all not a fun day! But, he is home safe so we can't ask for more than that, can we? I didn't think so either...
And now we are brought to today... Kyle has a school Christmas program that we're excited to go to tonight, and at some point I AM going to find the time (and the money) to finish up everything before Christmas next week! Oh my gosh, there's not enough hours in the day is there? And if i ever meet up with this guy named FICA he and I are gonna have some words!
More to come later (I know you can't wait for the next installment... you're on the edge of your seat I can tell) so check again soon!

Interesting how some things work out...
So life is interesting... I don't really know what I'm going to write, but I have some time to kill so I'll let my fingers figure it out. You'll either be incredibly impressed... or you'll wonder why you wasted the time to read my babblings... Either way, it's an excuse to not do that one thing you really should be doing right now! You know what I'm talking about...
Back to the life is interesting... I have this crazy notion sometimes that I'm the one in control of my life (I can hear you laughing... stop please...), only to realize that I have SOME control over the choices I make but that some things just kind of happen and I either wonder how in the world could I be so blessed, or how the heck am I gonna deal with THIS one? Right now, I'd rather not think about the "dealing with" stuff right now and I'll tell you about the blessed stuff. Sound good? I thought so too... (by the way, I really should be writing my Christmas letter now, so if you're reading this and weeks go by before you get my Christmas letter - if I ever get around to writing it at all - you'll know why)
So, Devin (the gorgeous guy in the picture up there) is in Southern California right now working, but will be back up here in Nor Cal with me soon... so in the meantime I've created this blog... and can do whatever I want with it, and he has no control (hee hee hee). Because of this, I thought I'd give you MY version of the way we met... interested? Read on... not interested? Let me know and I'll make sure to save a bit of money in not sending you a wedding invitation (JUST KIDDING! You know I love ya!)
*on a side note... I will one day write the Great American Novel and I seem to like to practice a lot... so you'll definitely get a story out of this one... set aside some extra time...
The night we met started (for me) on the way home from work. I worked in Draper, UT and drove home 10 minutes to South Jordan. It was Friday, August 17th, 2007 (exactly one month after my birthday - make a note). I was tired. I could think of nothing better to do then to go home and go to sleep. But it was a Friday night and how pitiful would it be to stay home alone on a Friday night? So I called up a friend of mine to see if they wanted to hang out. I didn't care if they wanted to watch a movie or do whatever and I suggested we go to this place in Salt Lake City I'd heard about and go country dancing. I didn't get a yes or no answer so I decided to get myself ready to go out anyway. I didn't know where I was going to go or what I was going to do, I just knew it was a Friday night, and I needed to get out. I was ready to go and in my car (with no particular destination in mind) when I call my friend who had decided they had had a long day and would rather not do anything (lame!). So, I decided to drive to downtown Salt Lake City and go to this club that I had never been to before all by myself (my mom thinks I'm nuts when I do stuff like that... with the alternative of being all dressed up with no place to go... yeah... I didn't have any other choice in my mind).
At Studio 600:
So, I get there about 9:30, thinking it started at 9 and I would walk in just as things were getting going... not quite. Nothing had started. The DJ was still setting up, the band wasn't there yet, the workers there were just kind of wandering around, and the two dance floors were bare... Wonderful. I wandered around a bit finding my way around and seeing what was there and then I find a bench where there's a friendly girl that starts a conversation with me so I sit down. She eventually has to get up and go work (it's her first night on the job apparently), but I stay seated on the bench feeling like an idiot just sitting there by myself, but it's not like there's anyplace better to go. After a time a few people here and there start walking in and I'm still sitting there... then I look up and see three guys walk in... One is taller than the other two and amazingly good looking... no way in heck do I stand a chance... they walk past my bench into the other room and I try to keep from watching them as they pass.
After a little while I am in the other room where the 3 guys had gone and the music had started though there still were not very many people in the room. The three of them began to dance a line dance. Now, let me just interject a quick opinion here... For a time I was not the biggest fan of line dances. I thought they were corny and a bit boring... that being said, the only line dances I knew at the time were the Electric Slide and the Tush Push that I had learned in a PE class in high school... I have, in recent years, had the opportunity to learn new ones and realize how much fun they are (and what a workout they are! whew!)... So watching these three out there who obviously knew what they were doing on this complicated line dance was amazing. And the tall, gorgeous one out there seemed to not only be the best one dancing, but the one having the most fun! Very attractive to see someone who is enjoying themselves, isn't it? So, again, the thought comes to me "You don't have a chance in...."
Anyway, the music turns from a line dance to a swing dance and a guy that had been standing next to me while I was watching the others dance starts up a conversation with me. He's now standing between me and the the unattainable one... In all honesty, he's boring me and I'm trying to think of a way to politely leave the conversation and ask someone to dance (funny, I'd gotten to the point where I'm not thinking I'll be asked to dance, but that I need to find someone to ask... sad...). Ok, it's not that he was boring me, but we're in a club where there's country swing dancing and he's talking to me about how he can't swing dance and it sounds as if he's not interested in dancing at all... Umm... Let me clue you in... there's a reason that I was there... it was to DANCE! Ha ha ha... So, he's talking to me and I see the guy I had been watching earlier ask another girl to dance. Truthfully, I could see that she wasn't able to match his skills on the dance floor. I almost felt sorry for him. The next song, I was all sorts of suprized when this tall, blue eyed boy asked me to dance. I think it was Josh Turner's "Would You Go With Me"... but I can't be sure... what I remember from that dance is that I was wearing the wrong shoes and that he was so much better at dancing than I was... I thought that especially after I stepped on his foot!!! (Ok, another interjection here... I am actually a pretty good dancer. I've been complimented on how well I follow and just how good I am... Just this particular dance I didn't seem to be able to feel too impressive). So, needless to say I felt like an idiot and again knew that I didn't have a chance with this guy...
When the dance was over he walked me to the side of the dance area and I thanked him for the dance thinking he would do the usual thing and walk away... ummm... he didn't. Wanna know what was running through my mind? (sure you do, or you wouldn't still be reading this!) I couldn't believe he was still standing there... why didn't he walk away? He was actually trying to talk and have a conversation with me... What in the world was going on?
Well, for the rest of the night he was by my side. We danced more (I was able to keep my feet from crushing his), we talked more, we snapped pennies off the balcony down to his friend on the dance floor below, and he asked for my phone number. As we left he walked me to my car and helped guide me out of the parking lot (I got boxed in) and text me on the way home until I got home to make sure I got home safe. I heard from him the next morning and we had a date that night...
Two months later on the 3rd of October we're engaged and there still has not been a day that's gone by where we haven't at least talked to each other... as it is now, I just got off the phone with him and he wants me to hurry up and end this blog (as I'm sure you do if you've actually made it down this far!) so I can talk to him some more...
So! There you have it! I wasn't planning on going anywhere that night, but my car found it's way to a dance in Salt Lake City where a guy that was WAY out of my league would find me and ask me to dance... He's still out of my league, but for some reason still loves me...
Oh, and our first date? A walk by a lake... but that's a story for another blog...
